just over one-third of students read
their local, daily newspaper on a weekly basis, the figure pales in comparison to the 79% of students who reported engaging with their daily campus newspaper in the past 7 days.

… three-quarters (76%) of college students have read their college newspaper in the past month, with that figure rising to an impressive 92% for those campus papers that publish on a daily basis.

...local stores, bars and restaurants are the most obvious places that students visit, but marketing to them online, on their phones and as the walk about campus and town has become a more relevent part of many campaigns in just the past few years.

Mobile Marketing

Mobile phone imageCurrent methods of mobile marketing include targeted promotions delivered to cell phones via text messages and WAP "push" (web pages written using Wireless Application Protocol for easy viewing on a mobile handset). These methods not only promote purchase of products and services but allow delivery of free content such as: mobile phone

which promote a particular brand, product, or service. Bluetooth technology, while still in its infancy for such promotions, can also be employed to send out a bluetooth message (e.g., discounts or bar-code coupons) based promotion to all bluetooth enabled phones within a particular radius, typically 100 yards. MJS Communications can provide a platform for the services listed above in all or some combination of the following ways:

Cellphone w/ text messageMobile PhoneTexting Campaigns:We provide a txt short code and keyword for each advertiser as the call to action on flyers and posters distributed on-campus, with a program built around the type of advertiser being served (e.g., interactive voting, quizzing, etc.)

WAP Push campaigns: In connection with mobile txt, we can provide a WAP page to be "pushed" to each cell phone with a call to action to receive or purchase content.

Bluetooth campaigns: We can place a "BlueCasting" (Bluetooth broadcasting) device in high-traffic areas on campus for extended periods to push discount offers, coupons and WAP URLs to discoverable mobile devices.
